The national education policy 2020
has been approved by union cabinet on 29th july, 2020 to overhaul the
contry’s education system. It is only the third major reform of the framework
of education in india since independence.
· The NEP 2020 aim at making “india a global knowledge superpower”
·
It
aims to increase the public investment in education sector to reach 6% of GDP
at the earlist.
·
The
teacher must be at the center of the fundamental reform in the education
system.

REFORM IN SCHOOL EDUCATION:-
·
Aim
to universalization of education from pre-school to secondary level with 100%
GER in school education by 2030.
·
The
NEP puts focus on student’s mother toungue as the medium of instaction.
·
Vocational
education to start from class-6 with intanship.
v
REFORM IN HIGHER EDUCATION:-
·
GER
in higher education to be raished to 50% by 2035
·
Under-graduation
will be of either 3 or 4 years with multiple entry and exit options.
·
M.phil
to be scrapped.
The government has set a target
of 2040 to implement the entire policy.

THE NEP PROMISES REFORMS. THE CHALLENGES IS IMPLEMENTATION:-

Drastic
increase of GER- quality may suffer.
·
Medium
of instuction what about english?
·
The
NEP target 6 % of GDP the same target was set in 1968 and 1986 too.
·
Funding
is a big challenge in the COVID-19 era.
If implemented in its true vision national education
policy 2020 is a milestone in india’s journey to becoming a knowledge
superpower.
